ATTENTION: Road works on The Avenue (the road leading to Lasham’s main entrance) is under intensive roadworks. Apparently the BASINGSTOKE/ALTON end may be ok tomorrow morning, but the Odiham side may be CLOSED until the evening. Disruptions will last all week. The diversions in this area are monstrous, so best look this up before you depart.
Marquee is being constructed as I write. This year we are based in the YELLOW CIRCLED area:

This is approximately the area we’ve been allocated for camping:

Facilities: we’ll have the use of Lasham’s regular camping facilities (though not the actual campsite, as we’ll be based by the marquee), including the showers in the bunk house. Keep in mind there’s like… one for men and one for women. Time your cleanliness routines accordingly.

Handily we’ll have use of the toilet block by the NavBoys building this time round, so we won’t necessarily have to cycle round the airfield just to use the loo this year. This block also has a running water tap – I don’t know if this is drinking water, so cooking and cleaning with it may be fine but BOIL IT before drinking it.

The cafe does do drinking water, though obviously this won’t be open 24/7. Needless to say: bring water containers. The bigger the better.
I believe Lasham still charge £10 per night of camping. We’ll be gathered around the marquee again this year, and NOT using Lasham’s regular campsite.
If proper workshop facilities are needed, you may be able to arrange renting a block in either the Gliding Heritage Centre workshop or the airfield’s members workshop (aka Ned Shed).
Rules and forms are pretty much the same as last year, but with much of the mandatory covid stuff stripped out. I still need to check our updated docs, but they should be broadcast later today.
For Saturday:
Whether you’re new to Lasham or an HPA veteran, park up in the guest car park and tell reception you’re here for the Icarus Cup. You’ll need to sign off on some risk assessments and other forms (see Lasham Pre-Briefing Briefing post).

Find myself or Hania in the cafe on Saturday… around 12PM. Just look for someone surrounded by printer and folders, definitely looking like a beacon of zen. And consider buying us food, because while our work plates overfloweth, our brains will be very busy and our bellies will be making hollow empty rumblings of sadness all day.
Oh and while I have this platform: Betterfly are expecting to be short-staffed. Any assistance with launching and recovering (see here) would be greatly appreciated.
A reminder: £10 entry fee for spectators, but Tony Prentice’s marshals don’t pay.
